Moving is Hell

A wise man (my hubby, Aaron) once said that he would rather take a beating than move. Man, oh, man....was he right. This moving thing is PAINFUL. We went the "cheapest" route possible and hired three men to move all our big, heavy furniture. We figured we could easily box up the small stuff and the clothes and move those things ourselves....we are only moving 1/2 mile down the road after all, right? Ughhhhh......one week and 500 trips later. How did we accumulate so much crap???? We have been creating Good Will boxes and purging junk, but somehow the amount of things we have had to load up and carry just seemed to expand and multiply with each passing day. And just what do you do with the drawer full of loose screws and bolts to some unknown thing that you just can't throw away "in case you might need them one day"? Hmmm, Aaron? We have a lot of those kinds of questions. What is this for? Do we still need this? What the hell is that? "When in doubt, throw it out" is going to be my new motto going forward.

And just when we thought we were about finished....oh, yea, what about the (huge) cedar closet??? That thing was FULL to the gills with Christmas decorations, winter clothes, size 4 suits from my corporate work life (why did I think I was getting back into those - can you say Good Will?), and many other blasts from the past. It was so much stuff it filled our completely clean and empty den all over again! Aaron and I just looked and each other in exhaustion and said "now is a good time to cry". We are almost done at this point....but then again, there is the garage. Can you say, Nightmare on Park Place Ave.?

Holy crap! I've never owned a size 4 suit.

My motto is "Never move on the cheap after college."

Good motto! Wish it were my husband's. He kept saying, with all the money we are saving that is a new, really nice piece of furniture. Whatever we end up buying with those dollars better be awesome.
